Ethos Returns: Season 2 and a New Chapter in Visual Storytelling

The highly anticipated second season of Ethos is on its way to Netflix, continuing the powerful, multi-layered storytelling that made the first season a global success. Known for its deeply human narratives and its exploration of cultural, social, and psychological contrasts, Ethos returns with an even more refined visual and emotional language.

This new season builds upon the original’s strength—intimate character studies woven into a broader reflection of society—while expanding its cinematic scope. The storytelling remains grounded and authentic, but visually, Season 2 reaches new heights, embracing a more sophisticated and nuanced colour palette to support its evolving themes.

Crafting the Look: Colour as Narrative

I’m proud to be working as the colourist on Season 2 of Ethos. Colour grading this project is not just a technical process—it’s a narrative tool. Each frame is carefully shaped to enhance emotional depth, define character perspectives, and subtly guide the audience’s experience.

From naturalistic skin tones to carefully controlled contrast and mood-driven palettes, the grading process is designed to preserve realism while elevating the storytelling. The goal is always to remain invisible yet impactful—allowing the audience to feel rather than notice the craft.

Remote Collaboration, State-of-the-Art Workflow

One of the most exciting aspects of this production is the fully remote grading pipeline. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, we are collaborating across continents in real time, ensuring that creative decisions are shared instantly with filmmakers, producers, and post-production teams.

This workflow allows for:

  • High-fidelity, colour-accurate remote monitoring

  • Seamless communication between creative teams

  • Efficient iteration without compromising quality

Despite the physical distance, the process remains deeply collaborative—mirroring the traditional grading suite experience while expanding its possibilities.

A Global Vision

Ethos has always been more than a series—it’s a conversation. With Season 2, that conversation continues on a larger scale, both creatively and technically. The integration of advanced post-production pipelines with strong artistic intent reflects the evolving landscape of filmmaking today.

As we move closer to release, I’m excited to share more about the visual journey behind the scenes. This season is not only a continuation of a beloved story but also a step forward in how stories can be crafted and finished in a globally connected world.
