Ian Whitehead is an Australian singer/songwriter from Melbourne. He has written some songs of deep social issues such as ” Nobody wins A War” ( about the hopelessness and suffering of all wars). The title was inspired from the story of Irena Sendler who saved over 2000 babies in World War 2. “99 Candles in Ballarat” is dedicated to victims of sex abuse by the Church and his fight for justice.
Ian also performs covers of other songs as well as his originals. He was chosen to complete two tours in Sweden, Germany and Finland representing Fosters Lager and Qantas Airlines. In 2024 he wrote a song about a famous gold prospector he knew ( Neville Perry) who died . Discovery Channel filmed him performing this song in a beautiful bush setting on the goldfield in front of over 300 people.
